OCULUS, Inc. will award two scholarships. The winning applicants could receive one of the following:
As a partner of optometric education, OCULUS, Inc. wishes to recognize third and fourth year optometry students who best demonstrate clinical excellence in the area of Anterior Segment Diagnostics Technologies with the chance to win one of two scholarships.
All you have to do is make sure that you are eligible for the scholarship before applying, submit all the required documents, and upload your video to this website.

Each applicant must upload a short video essay (1-2 minutes) by January 31, 2024 using the "Submit Your Entry" form further down. Video submissions longer than 2 minutes will not be reviewed. Applicants must not include any identifiable or specific patient information. The video essay must address one of the following topics:

I am a foreign student. Am I eligible?The OCULUS Scholarship is open to individuals who are at least eighteen (18) years of age and are enrolled in their third or fourth year of optometry school attending an accredited U.S. institution of higher education that maintains a regular faculty and curriculum and has a regularly enrolled student body in the U.S. (“Accredited Optometry School”). Employees of OCULUS or any affiliate provider, and their family members, are not eligible. OCULUS reserves the right to change the Scholarship program at any time, including but not limited to, the number of available Scholarships, deadlines, criteria and eligibility, and Award and Travel Stipend amounts.
What are the requirements for the video I have to include in my application?Video essays must be successfully submitted via the indicated method and must meet the criteria set forth herein. At the applicant’s sole discretion, the applicant may choose to strengthen their applicant profile by posting the video essay to their personal page as a public post on Facebook or other social media channel (“Social Media Post”) and provide a corresponding web link to the Social Media Post. Applicants must not include any identifiable or specific patient information. Video essays must be one to two minutes in length and must address one of the below topics:
1. How has the Pentacam® improved your patient care?
2. How has the Keratograph® 5M helped you care for dry eye patients?
3. How has OCULUS technology improved your patient care or your patients’ quality of life?
Videos must be 1-2 minutes in length and no more than 500 MB.
Can I upload more than one video/application?Limit: one video submission per applicant.
Once I have submitted my application, can I make further edits?All submissions are final.
If I win, how will I receive my awards?OCULUS will present the awards to the winners on a mutually agreed date and time at the applicant's Optometry School.
What happens to non-winning entries?Stay tuned to OCULUS media channels as you may see your video featured.
May I use the funds for anything other than university tuition?Scholarships must be used to pay for, or reimburse, tuition and fees required for enrollment or attendance at, or for fees, books, supplies, and equipment required for courses at, the Accredited Optometry School. You agree to provide documentation requested by OCULUS substantiating the use of the Scholarship. The device is awarded as is with no express or implied warranties whatsoever. OCULUS is not required to report the Scholarships to the IRS or to withhold taxes for the Scholarship on the Recipient’s behalf. It is Recipient’s responsibility to report income properly on Recipient’s personal tax returns. Scholarships are not taxable if:
1. You use the Scholarship to pay for tuition and fees, or books, supplies, and equipment required for courses at the Accredited Optometry School
2. You are a candidate for a degree at the Accredited Optometry School. The Travel Stipend may not be reported on a tax document (e.g. IRS Form W-2 or 1099-MISC), but may be considered to be self-reported income, taxable to Recipient. Recipient may be required to pay estimated quarterly taxes to federal and state tax authorities on the Travel Stipend. Please seek advice from a personal tax advisor.
