On September 14, 2025, a rocket lifted off from Cape Canaveral (USA) – a launch that also marks a milestone in OCULUS history. On board: a piece from the heart of Germany – the OCULUS Smartfield.

The compact perimeter is now being used aboard the International Space Station (ISS) to support research on Spaceflight Associated Neuro-ocular Syndrome (SANS), a condition that can affect the vision of astronauts during long-duration missions.

For OCULUS, this mission represents a remarkable milestone: a device from Wetzlar becomes part of international space research – proving that medical innovation knows no boundaries.
