APACRS Cairns, Fusion – Congress of AUSCRS and APACRS, Cairns, July 1-4, 2010[07/14/2010]
Cairns proved to be a perfect host for this year’s Fusion meeting, and more than 400 attendees had followed the invitation to a well-organized meeting with many surprises. Prior to the congress, OCULUS held a Pentacam Symposium with a vivid audience of doctors from Australia, China, Singapore, Hong Kong, Korea, India etc.
Prof. Michael Belin, MD, USA, highlighted the importance and advantages of Scheimpflug elevation-based topography for keratoconus screening, and later reiterated the inadequacy of surface maps for the cause again in the official conference program. Bryan Harrisberg, MD, Australia, shared his experience with the Pentacam in difficult cataract cases, thereby expanding the scope of the Pentacam into the cataract field. Finally Ana Alexandratos, who works as an Orthoptist in Sydney, Australia, reported on Pentacam imaging in glaucoma assessments. She introduced how to effectively screen for angle closure glaucoma suspects using Pentacam parameters such as anterior chamber volume, depth, and angles.
The friendly and open atmosphere of the meeting had a positive effect on many attendees’ motivation to visit the exhibition area where OCULUS entertained its booth. Its flagship product the Pentacam was well frequented and thoroughly discussed. On display too was the 4th generation of OCULUS’ Keratograph with its latest software functionalities, the TF-Scan and Oximap, utilities for the evaluation of the corneal tear film and the improved selection of soft contact lenses according to their respective oxygen transmissibility.
OCULUS would like to congratulate the organizers to this successful event and thank all attendees again for the support during past FUSION meeting!
